UMPJE Pharmacy Law exam requirements & cost
Straight from the certifying body — separate from what we charge for the study portal.
The Uniform MPJE (UMPJE) is required for pharmacist licensure in the jurisdictions that have adopted it — early-adopter states began administering it in April 2026, with wider rollout from June 2026, alongside states still using the older state-specific MPJE format. It's taken by PharmD graduates entering practice for the first time and by already-licensed pharmacists seeking licensure in an additional state. The total cost is $450, made up of a $100 nonrefundable exam application fee and a $350 exam fee; candidates who want to transfer a passing UMPJE score to another participating jurisdiction pay an additional $105 per jurisdiction. The exam itself runs 120 questions (100 scored, 20 unscored, indistinguishable to the candidate) over a 180-minute (3-hour) appointment, using single-answer multiple-choice questions with only 3 answer options — a deliberate change from the 4-5 options used on the older state-specific MPJE.
