ABTC CPTC exam requirements & cost

To sit for the CPTC exam, candidates must have completed a minimum of 12 months of work experience as an organ procurement coordinator by the date of application, documented via an Employer Attestation Form. The exam is computer-based, contains 175 multiple-choice items (150 scored, 25 unscored pretest items), and must be completed within a 3-hour time limit at a PSI test center. As of this review, ABTC charges a $495 examination fee plus a separate, non-refundable $150 application fee ($645 total); international candidates pay an additional $225 administration fee. Certification is valid for three years, after which recertification (via continuing education or re-examination) costs $395.
