Straight from the certifying body — separate from what we charge for the study portal.
The Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) credential, also written Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR), is awarded by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) after you pass its registration examination. CDR offers two eligibility routes. Under Option 1 you complete an associate degree from a university accredited by a USDE-recognised accrediting agency (or a foreign equivalent) and an ACEND-accredited Dietetic Technician Program with a minimum of 450 supervised practice hours. Under Option 2 you complete a bachelor's degree from an accredited university (or foreign equivalent) and an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD). Once CDR approves your eligibility you receive an Authorization to Test email from Pearson VUE, normally within a week, and authorisation lasts one year at a time. CDR's FAQ lists the examination fee for dietetic technicians as $160, paid by credit card to Pearson VUE when you book; the optional test bundle costs $235 in total for the first attempt plus a voucher for a discounted retake priced at $75. Appointments must be made at least 48 hours ahead, the exam is offered year-round at more than 250 Pearson VUE test centers, and a refund is available only if you cancel online at least 48 hours before the appointment.
