Eligibility
Three pathways, one of which must be met: (1) at least 1,000 hours of clinical sleep health experience plus a bachelor's degree or higher; (2) an approved healthcare credential or license plus an associate's degree or higher; (3) an active RPSGT credential, recertified at least once, plus a BRPT STAR-designated CCSH education program completed within the past 3 years. All pathways additionally require current BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association guidelines or international equivalent) — effective January 1, 2026, BRPT only accepts BLS/CPR that includes an in-person live/skills component, no longer purely online-earned certifications
Real exam cost
$450 flat exam fee (US)
Format
100 multiple-choice questions (75 scored, 25 unscored pretest items) · 3-hour time limit

The Certification in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH) is issued by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), the credentialing body better known for the RPSGT sleep-technologist credential — CCSH is BRPT's separate, clinically-oriented credential focused on sleep health education, patient management, and program administration rather than the technical conduct of a sleep study itself. Candidates must meet one of three eligibility pathways: 1,000+ hours of clinical sleep health experience combined with a bachelor's degree or higher; an approved healthcare credential or license combined with an associate's degree or higher; or holding an active RPSGT credential (recertified at least once) plus completing a BRPT STAR-designated CCSH education program within the prior 3 years. Every pathway additionally requires current BLS/CPR certification following American Heart Association guidelines (or an equivalent for international applicants) — as of January 1, 2026, BRPT tightened this to require an in-person live/skills component, no longer accepting purely online-earned BLS/CPR. The exam fee is a flat $450 (US). The exam itself consists of 100 multiple-choice questions administered over a 3-hour time limit, though only 75 of those items are actually scored — the remaining 25 are unscored pretest questions candidates can't distinguish from the scored ones, used by BRPT to field-test future exam content. The current exam blueprint weights Domain 1 (Sleep Fundamentals, which was expanded to include neurological, neuromuscular, and metabolic sleep disorders) at 30% of the exam, with the remaining three domains covering evaluation/management of sleep disorders, patient education and communication, and collaborative multidisciplinary program management (now explicitly including dental, cardiology, and primary care program models).

Last verified: August 2026·Exam blueprint: BRPT's own eligibility, handbook, and exam-blueprint pages confirmed via WebSearch-indexed content quoting those pages directly — direct WebFetch to brpt.org was unreachable from this environment (connection refused on every attempt, including a direct curl retry), so this is a targeted-search verification of the certifying body's own published pages, not a direct-fetch read. Full domain-percentage breakdown beyond Domain 1 (30%) was not found and is deliberately left unpublished in examDetails.js rather than estimated.·Primary source: BRPT — CCSH Overview ↗
