The BOC AT exam has 175 questions in four hours, and some of them are unscored. The BOC does not publish how many questions are scored or which item types appear. The exam follows the BOC Practice Analysis, 8th Edition (effective for the AT exam from March 2023), which has five domains: Risk Reduction, Wellness and Health Literacy (20%); Assessment, Evaluation and Diagnosis (25.6%); Critical Incident Management (20.8%); Therapeutic Intervention (25.6%); and Health Care Administration and Professional Responsibility (8%). The passing score is a scaled score of 500. The BOC candidate page lists an exam fee of US$375 for testing in the U.S. or Canada (the same for first-time and retake candidates) and says the BOC allows an unlimited number of retakes within one year of the date your exam results are posted. The BOC reports a scaled score and the passing score is 500. A scaled score is not a percentage of correct answers, so the percent score in the portal practice exam is only a self-check. The BOC candidate page lists a US$375 exam fee for testing in the U.S. or Canada and a non-refundable application fee of US$75 for NATA members or US$100 for non-members. Fees change, so confirm the current amounts with the BOC. The content outline spreads questions across 5 areas; the largest are Assessment, Evaluation and Diagnosis (25.6%); Therapeutic Intervention (25.6%); Critical Incident Management (20.8%). The full list of areas and weights is on the portal exam page. Candidates are enrolled in or have graduated from a CAATE-accredited athletic training program, or qualify through the BOC International Arrangement; confirm the current rules with the BOC. The portal is a practice aid built on the published domains: it is not a copy of the exam, its practice exam is shorter than the real test, and it does not predict your score.
