CPO Certification exam requirements & cost
Straight from the certifying body — separate from what we charge for the study portal.
The CPO certification needs successful completion of the CPO course and a passing result on the CPO exam, and no industry experience is required (PHTA CPO page). The course is a 16-hour, two-day classroom program, or a blended format with the online CPO Fusion course plus a one-day in-person class; it is also available virtually where approved (PHTA CPO page). PHTA's in-person course listing describes two days of instruction with a 50-question open book exam, and the certification is valid for five years. PHTA does not publish a passing score for the CPO exam on its course pages, so the portal mock shows 75 percent only as a self-check; confirm the current requirement with PHTA or your instructor. PHTA does not list one fixed price: course fees depend on the provider and the format, and one in-person listing shows $625 for members and $750 for non-members as early bird pricing. No industry experience is required; you complete the CPO course and pass the CPO exam (PHTA).
