It is issued by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and administered by PSI Services LLC. The exam is taken on a computer, is multiple choice, and gives you 3.5 hours (CSLB examination FAQ); the number of questions is listed in your Notice to Schedule. This portal's practice mock has 115 questions. The CSLB examination FAQ does not state a passing score, which is given with your exam materials, so none is quoted here. A CSLB fee information lists a US$450 application fee and an examination fee of US$51.43; the CSLB fee list is the authority. The content outline spreads questions across 7 areas; the largest are Contract Requirements and Execution (21.0%); Employment Requirements (20.0%); Business Finances (15.0%). CSLB sets the experience, application and fee requirements for each contractor license class; applications are valid for 18 months from acceptance to pass the exams; confirm the current requirements with the CSLB before you apply.
