The Texas General Lines Property and Casualty agent exam (InsTC-PC06) is the written licensing examination for the General Lines Property and Casualty Agent license in Texas. It is issued under the authority of the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI); examination administered by Pearson VUE. The exam has 145 questions and a time allowance of 150 minutes. The Texas handbook explains that results are reported on a scale on which 70 is the passing score; a score below 70 shows how close you came rather than the number or percentage of questions answered correctly. US$49 per examination attempt, paid to Pearson VUE when you reserve (Texas candidate handbook, Available Exams and Fees). The content outline spreads questions across 8 areas; the largest are General IV: Types of Policies, Bonds, and Related Terms (Casualty) (17.69%); General I: Types of Policies (Property) (16.92%); State I: Texas Statutes and Rules Common to Property and Casualty Insurance (13.85%). Texas requires state-approved prelicensing education for most lines, fingerprinting and a TDI license application (US$50 per license type per the handbook); confirm the current requirements with the TDI before you schedule. This portal prepares you for the written exam; it does not replace Texas prelicensing education or the state's license application.
