$325–375 + PSI testing center fees
Format
120-Q Knowledge Exam (3 hrs) + written Skills Exam (2 hrs)

Eligibility for NALA's Certified Paralegal (CP) exam is met through one of three pathways: completion of a qualifying paralegal studies program (ABA-approved program, associate or bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, post-baccalaureate certificate, or an equivalent 60-semester-hour program with 15 substantive legal hours), a bachelor's degree in any field plus one year of paralegal experience or 15 semester hours of substantive paralegal coursework, or a high school diploma plus five years of paralegal experience and 20 hours of continuing legal education completed within the prior two years. The exam application fee is $325 for NALA members and $375 for non-members (reduced rates of $150/$175 apply to qualifying paralegal students and $240/$280 to military candidates), and covers one attempt each at the Knowledge and Skills Exams. A separate PSI testing center fee also applies: $67 (Knowledge Exam) and $60 (Skills Exam) for onsite testing, or $50 for remote online proctoring of the Knowledge Exam. Earning the CP credential requires passing both a 120-question, 3-hour multiple-choice Knowledge Exam and a 2-hour written Skills Exam, administered sequentially through PSI testing centers or live remote proctoring.
