Powers to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force Final Examination (Security Guard Registration) — California BSIS

To get a California guard card you complete the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services training in powers to arrest and appropriate use of force, and the final written examination must be answered with every item correct. The real examination is given by your training provider and is untimed and open-book. SummitCert offers a California Guard Card study aid with 1000 flashcards, 350 practice questions and a 52-question mock set with a 60-minute closed-book timer, which is stricter than the real test.

The BSIS requires a trainee to score 100% on the final examination to complete the Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force training (BSIS security guard training page). The training has a 3-hour Power to Arrest part and a 5-hour Appropriate Use of Force part, and it must be completed before a security guard registration is issued. A trainee who fails the final examination the first time may study the weak areas and try again. You must answer 100% of the items correctly to complete the course.
