Free FTCE Exceptional Student Education K-12 (061) Flashcards

IDEA rests on several linked principles: a free appropriate public education, appropriate evaluation, an individualized education program, placement in the least restrictive environment, parent and student participation, and procedural safeguards. Each protects a different right, so a strong IEP cannot make up for shutting out parents. Participation and safeguards exist so families can influence and challenge decisions, which is why one missing principle is still a violation.
