Bacteriology is the study of bacteria, and salons are high-contact environments where implements, hands, and skin routinely touch multiple clients in a single day. Without understanding how bacteria grow, spread, and get destroyed, a cosmetologist has no framework for choosing the right sanitation step, recognizing when a client's condition is contagious, or knowing why a single missed disinfection cycle can spread infection from one client to the next.
