The CBEST has three sections: Reading (50 multiple-choice questions), Mathematics (50 multiple-choice questions) and Writing (two essays); each section is scored from 20 to 80 (CBEST test page, CTC/Pearson). You pass with a scaled score of 41 on each section and a total of at least 123; a section score as low as 37 still counts if the total across the three sections reaches 123, and passing scores do not expire (CTC leaflet CL-667). This portal is a study aid: its 120-question practice set uses multiple-choice items only and does not simulate the two Writing essays, so use the 70 percent result as a self-check, not a score prediction. You need a scaled score of 41 on each section and a total of 123; one or two sections may be as low as 37 if the total reaches 123. The portal shows 70 percent only as a self-check.
