Free California General Electrician Certification Exam Flashcards

An electrically safe work condition is a state in which the conductor or circuit part has been disconnected from energized parts, locked or tagged in accordance with established standards, tested for the absence of voltage, and temporarily grounded if necessary for personnel protection. Switching a circuit off is not enough, because stored energy, a second supply or a mistaken label could still leave it energized, which is why all of these steps are combined before work starts.
