Question
A new client asks why you're treating their haircut the exact same way, sanitation-wise, as the client before them who mentioned having a bloodborne illness. How do you explain your approach?

Standard Precautions require treating every client's blood and body fluids as potentially infectious regardless of what they disclose or how healthy they appear, because visible health status is not a reliable indicator of bloodborne infection status. This is also the legal standard in California: under CCR Title 16 Section 984(d), bloodborne diseases like HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B are specifically excluded from the disease/infestation exclusion list, meaning a barber may never deny or alter service based on a disclosed bloodborne condition. The same rigorous implement disinfection and hand hygiene practiced on every client is the actual protection, not selective caution based on disclosure.
