Free ARE 5.0 Architect Exam Flashcards

The overhead rate is indirect costs divided by direct personnel expense, here 900,000 / 600,000 = 1.5 or 150 percent. It tells the firm how much non-project cost, such as rent, administration, and insurance, must be recovered for every dollar of project labor, so it is built into fee proposals before any profit is added.
